So I wiped our hard drive this morning, but thanks to nick, had a backup. Except, I have lost a weeks worth of job cards and notes. Not emails. They are fine

So if you have made contact with us since last Monday, maybe give us a buzz, to check that we are doing what you want us to do.

And we are booked out for services till tuesday feb 14. Ouch

Posted in in Reading Material on November 10th, 2011 by nicholasb | Comments Off

We’ve got a few new neat pieces of reading material in.

The second edition contains an extra 32 pages, with a whole new chapter on where Brompton may be heading in the future plus new coverage of early folding bikes in the U.S., more detail on military use of folding bikes and, of course, the low-down on new products and company developments. $40

Bicycle Quarterly Vol 10. No.1 - High-wheeler racing in New Zealand today, Test of the Calfee “Adventure” – a carbon fiber bicycle for the real world., Braking: We test how it’s done best, and compare a few interesting brakes (Sram Force, Eebrake, Velo-Orange Gran Cru), A daytrip across the Yorkshire Dales immerses you into the landscape, culture and history of this beautiful region, Jan Heine’s ultimate custom bicycle. How he designed it, and how it was built. $15

Lee’s Gorgeous Fuji Touring Townie Dad-Bike

IMAGE_1000000375.JPG

Lee came to us with a nice old 27″ roadster with some great, comfortable bars and shifters, but a flogged out drive-train and a bent down-tube. The brief was to recapture the spirit of the old bike, and give Lee a solid, comfy commuter that was also a  ’Dad-bike’ for daycare drop-offs and playgroup runs.

The 2011 Fuji Touring worked out great. We transferred the whole bar, stem and controls, including the gorgeous old Dia Compe Brake-levers and classic Suntour Power-Ratchet shifters straight across from the old bike, and added a Brooks Flyer, some VO Aluminium guards and Bobike Mini and built one of my most favourite of our recent new bikes.

Bicycle Maintenance Courses are back

Posted in in General Stuff, News, Workshop on October 5th, 2011 by davos | No Comments

We’ll be calling all of you who have registered interest in the various courses we run. Next Tuesday 11th of October we will have the basic maintenance course: wheel removal, flat repair and basic safety check. This course is $60 per person prepaid.

It's not always just dudes but these guys were a good bunch learning about hub bearing overhaul

The 18th of October we’ll run the brakes course, the following will be gears. If there is enough interest I’d be happy to run wheel truing and/or bearing adjustment but it seems gears and brakes are the most popular so we might just cycle through those for the people that are interested.

If you would like to organise a group of friends or a one-on-one course tailored to your specific requirements we can organise this also.
