how bout that weather eh?

Whilst chucking a sicky at home I witnessed (on BOM and In Real Life) an awesome hailstorm. Must have gone for 15-20 minutes here in the city. I saw 6 people riding thru it! Little did they know, it would completely stop raining 10 minutes after the deluge.
and poor Shiftys’ first day on his brand new* Fixie

I was stuck out at SCA (Rozelle). Took one look outside to see rain and considered doing the dash back to Redfern before realising there was hail! Have taken photos too. Will upload it soon and post link here.
Riding home was interesting though! Lots of slow riding and crunching on ice. I was a little concerned at times as I’m unsure what effect extreme cold/ice has on bicycles and tyres…
Gonnahave to start stocking studded tyres I think.
I run fat Mobybite slicks on my single speed and they are surprisingly good in the wet – though I wouldn’t push them too much on way slippery surfaces such as pavers. And I reckon cold/ice has more of an impact on riders than machinery esp reaction time and visibility
goatboater does crash all the time though
Indeed and when I do it is with style and panache. Last one in Enmore had 4 cop cars and 2 ambulances attending at one stage. Was a slow night for them I’d say.
Okay. The link below has a photo of my baby with hail on her ’cause she was parked outside SCA, and a couple of the previous photos feature bike tracks made in the hail.
