So I just plunked down $500 for a lager (whats up with $750 quoted above) – this bike is the bomb. I rode all over Boston on it and the fit is just perfect. I can’t believe I just spent that much on a bike with one gear but so be it — I guess I haven’t bought a bike in a LONG time and wasn’t ready for the prices. Anyway, the only thing I could wish for is maybe a lighter frame. Bon voyage.

JE- my guess is those aren’t American dollars he was quoting.
My bicycle shop in Fort Worth, Texas sells the SE Lager for $500 also. And yes, it is an awesome bike.

I live in Saint Paul MN, just bought a lager a couple weeks ago and i am in love with it. I was a mechanic for 7 years and i always wanted a rock solid single speed with bull horns, brakes and not much else. This bike feels sporty, but without all the frills. It climbs surprisingly well and feels really smooth. if you are on the fence, go for it!

I just bought an SE Lager and am in love with it also!
It’s got wimpy OEM brakes, cranks and pedals, came painted in a questionable brown color, and was a size two large (54cm vs. 52cm), but I absolutely had to have it after doing a short test ride.
It’s my first single speed and also my first new bike in 12 years. It made me fall in love with riding again, because its pure two-wheeled transportation. None of that expensive, painfully over-marketed full suspension crap. Woohoo!
BTW, I gots mine for $350 on clearance!

The bike is awesome. I spent almost three weeks extensively researching road bikes and decided that the SE Lager was the best choice for the City of Philadelphia. I caught a break when I found a gentlemen offering the bike in a 52 cm frame on craigslist for 350 bucks. I talked him down to 320 and was off to the races. I get asked about the bike fairly frequently and love the attention. I went with the “beer” colored paint job and could not have imagined it any other way. The mini-beer emblem stating “52 cm” on the frame is a nice touch and having bull horn handlebars are great for ripping up the streets and weaving through traffic.
