Hi we are going to Japan early march and still undecided on whether to take bikes or to pick up a basic tourer when we land in Tokyo. Going for 5 weeks and riding maybe 2-3 wks mainly we think in the southern island of Shikoku. Know about bikes and trains (bags etc) but thinking how hard was it to bring bikes across? Great to talk to one of you...

hey guys love the pics
they brought us fond memories of our ride in japan this year (tokyo to fukuoka)- we also travelled shikoku(though not all of it) on a pair of mamachari's(commuter for jap mums)that we bought 2ndhand in tokyo
http://www.tokyobybike.com/2008/06/sheer-number-of-bicycles-abandoned.html
turns out single speeding japan with panniers was a humbling experience - never too proud to getoff and walk.

rock on

nice ...
It was probably nice (by the looks of it) to get away from the cbd's.

Cought up with their orange ride in Tokyo CMWC.

Their bike was drawing a lot of attention, and smiles.
