It’s been a pretty foul week for riding in Sydney, so we wanted to share some tips for staying dry.
Mudguards are the best thing you can do to stay dry on the bike. Water coming up at you from the ground and off your wheels is what really makes your bike filthy, gives you the black stripe up your back and water flying off your front wheel runs down your legs and soaks your shoes and socks.
Planet Bike Cascadia guards for $90 in black and silver in a range of sizes. They look great, and install easily on most bikes. We’ve also got the Speed EZ version for totally eyelet-less frames.
Aluminium fenders are a gorgeous option but require a more complicated installation process. We’ve got some handsome guards imported from Velo Orange, as well as gorgeous Honjo fenders from Japan.
Ortlieb bags will keep all the stuff you need to carry bone-dry as well. They’re the best.
Once you’ve got guards on your bike, we’ve got gorgeous Carradice Rain Capes in stock. They’re great for staying dry on the bike without getting sweaty inside typical waterproof bike wear.
Although they’re not as effective as full coverage guards, strap-on guards offer a decent amount of protection. We’re super impressed with the new PDW Origami guards for their design and quality.
